Black Tears

Black tears mine eyes
Let flow, standing here in
My love's shadow
Tears black as soot and
Twice as staining, fit
Indeed for Cleopatra's soul
Bemoaning loss of
Antony and empire, noble
Effort but 5,000 years
Old, so she cries then dies
As I feel I must, this muscle of
A heart to still, for the
Chill of my love's shadow,
A universe gone cold,
And me? Long ago too old
To survive my own flurry
Of snow. So, fall tears, flow
And melt me a grave, here
Where at least I can lie
'Neath vanished love's
Shadowed eyes.
But I do believe,
Failure aside,
It was worth the try.
