American Civics ABC's

How does a society manage to be both deeply reactionary and cruelly perverse at the same time?

Obviously screams for justice, reason, and kindness are but wasted breath.
How many have been killed in the Russo-Ukrainian war so far? Not enough to satisfy the vampires warming seats in the highest court in the USA.
America! America, can't you do anything fairly? You want to ratchet up female deaths? Ok. The rest of the developed world will spit on your memory but you ARE free to do your thing. Just don't expect respect or assume that you lead anything or anyone because if you want to truly lead, it must be done by example, and the only state you are fit to lead is something like a rerun of the Khmer Rouge's socio-economic experiment. And shut up about all that democracy bs. The USA is a republican oligarchy, not a democracy. The Founders never envisioned a democracy and did their best to prevent one, or wtf do you think the Electoral College is for?
Read your own Constitution (I have; it's not long) and follow the setting up of a government that is for the people but a myth. And while you read, think! Think and separate the fact from the fiction. A government of the people (ok, you must be a citizen--define that--and a human). By the people: if you get elected to a post it is generally expected that you WORK and eschew grift. For the people?!? That's a message for the in-crowd: the people you work for are yourself and your cronies. That is why out of a 4-year term of office you focus your efforts on getting re-elected from about two years before the next election, with a prince's ransom of funds to turn yourself into a celebrity. And do take the time to develop a really cool signature.

Society and Suicide

As a multi-method, multiple suicide attempt survivor, I would like to tell you two things (not about assistance since that's been covered), the second of which may sound counterintuitive.

1) Depression does not necessarily lead to a suicide attempt but it can make life more miserable than I can describe in a few words.

2) One does not have to be in a depressed state in order to commit suicide. A person can logically talk themselves into it, most often as the only possible solution to a problem, whether this is objectively true or false. This means that there may be no advance warning to others. As the Lou Reed lyric goes, "suicides don't need notes."

2b) This all suggests that you should be even closer to those who you are close to you and, as a society, we need to increase the level of interpersonal communication and communal care of individuals. If you don't know even the names of your neighbours, that alone demonstrates a deficiency in our society. On a world with seven billion inhabitants there should be no strangers.
